How to Succeed in the MLM Business
by Peter C. Lubrano
About the Author:
Has spent over 60 years in business, from running a small retail food business to wholesale food and beverage distribution and marketing to international trade and the marketing of many products. Conceptual design and engineering of a variety of products. Advanced what today is called "transportation logistics" with wide application to the movement of millions of tons of cargoes moving between the U.S. and other countries and importing manufactured goods from abroad.
My Business Philosophy:
No matter what kind of business you operate or are starting up, never forget the basics of sound business practices. Business is, by and large, a product of the people involved in it. The ethics and viability of any business is the direct result of the owner/manager/or directors and their understanding and acceptance of their responsibility to the communities that they serve.
The multi-level-marketing business, though very exciting, is often misused in promoting a new product and/or a business. Many years ago I participated in an MLM business that became highly visible and, because of some of its hype and less than stellar business practices, drew the interest of several state attorney general's offices in several northeastern states. Because of that and other similar situations, MLM businesses began to gather a lot of bad publicity, and eventually many companies were forced out of business.
That legacy is still part of the MLM industry, although since those years the industry has cleansed itself of the many unscrupulous operators.
MLM companies today still hang onto the excitement factor, which can be a constructive factor and certainly has its place in the overall scheme of things, if it is not overdone. But then again, it depends on the management and the importance they give to that factor.
My real concern is about the individual that is really looking for something to get involved with and make some money, but does not have ability or talent to do this kind of business. Nonetheless, he is talked into it. This bothers me to no end. It is because of this that the failure mortality rate is very, very high!
My goal here is to cut that down and help the people learn how to succeed in the MLM business.
