Hardware for Freelance Desktop Publishing
The equipment you need to start and run a desktop publishing business is both varied and subjective. As a minimum you're going to need hardware (computer and printer) and software. Whether or not what you currently have is sufficient or whether you need to upgrade depends on the type of work you plan to do.

Mac or PC: For freelance work it really doesn't matter. There are pros and cons for each platform but the bottom line is:

* The choice between a Windows PC and Mac for professional desktop publishing and graphic design work boils down to personal preference because either one can handle the work. Where possible, having both is an ideal, though costly, situation.
