This nationally recognized Travel Agent License training program is a proven, successful method for motivated people to begin a travel career, and will help prepare students for The Travel Institute (formerly ICTA) TAP Certification. Students learn the basic skills needed to operate a computer reservation system. This program consists of two modules including a Travel Career Development module and an interactive reservation system module. For the reservation system module students get their choice of SABRE, WORLDSPAN, APOLLO, GALILEO, or AMADEUS GDS system. All materials included. This online certificate program is only offered in partnership with major accredited colleges and universities.

Course Overview/Description
The Travel Agent Program is a proven, successful method for motivated people to begin a travel career, and will help prepare students for The Travel Institute (formerly ICTA) TAP Certification. Learn the basic skills needed to operate a computer reservation system, whether with the airlines, travel agencies, car rental agencies, cruise lines, hotels, resorts, as a corporate travel coordinator, or as a home based agent, all in a convenient online environment.

The online program consists of two modules. Students will first participate in a Travel Career Development program followed by the student's choice of computer reservation systems including SABRE, WORLDSPAN, APOLLO, GALILEO or AMADEUS GDS systems.

Upon registering, you are given an initial six months to complete the program. Should you need more time, you may request a 6-month extension at no additional charge.

Course Objectives
By completing this course the student will:
o Learn the basic history and future of the travel industry.
o Learn to identify the various types of travelers and match them to the correct travel products.
o Learn how airline computer reservation systems operate.
o Learn the basics of travel geography.
o Learn how domestic and international airfares are determined.
o Learn the proper documentation needed to travel internationally and how to obtain it.
o Study how the ground transportation system works including rail, cars, and bus tours.
o Learn how hotels are rated, priced, as well as the different between a hotel and a resort.
o Learn about cruises - how to read and understand brochures, match the client to the proper ship, and explain the value of cruising.
o Learn the various types of tours from escorted to independent.
o Learn about marketing.
o Learn the basic formats used by the airlines to book flights, price tickets, build the passenger name record (PNR).
o Learn how to change or cancel records.
o Learn how to book cars and hotels in the reservation system.

Prerequisites/Audience
There are no specific prerequisites for this course. This course is intended for professionals who want to enhance their travel industry knowledge or for individuals who want to jump-start their career in the travel industry.
