"I love it," she said,"more than anything else in the world."

I watched Amelia's eyes turn dreamy as she told me about her recent trip to Bali.

"Travel makes me feel so alive." She smiled.

"I can't wait to see your slides," I told her. I meant it, too. I'm the only person I know who actually enjoys seeing other people's travel slide shows.

"Well, I only have a few," she said regretfully."I bought a fancy new camera just before I left and never quite understood how to use it. But," her face brightened, "you can read the story I'm going to write about my trip."

"Great. Where will it be published?"

"The woman who puts out our monthly church bulletin told me she'll print anything I send her. I guess my writing career is under way." She leaned toward me, elbows on knees. "Ever since I've been back I've thought about quitting my job at the bank." She lowered her voice and I sensed she'd reached the real point of the conversation. "Do you think I can make a career as a travel writer?"
